Don’t miss out on the eBay Lost Time Auction taking place tomorrow, Saturday October 28th – Sunday 29th. The auction has been scheduled to intersect with Daylight Savings, which means that while the auction lasts from 2:00am to 2:00am, it spans 25 hours. This is why the auction has been called Lost Time, a reference to time’s flexibility and somewhat ephemeral nature. Plus, there’s also the fact that the 12 watches that are available are a mixture of modern and historical icons from across time. Let’s meet the watches.
Kicking things off we have the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5164R-001, a rose gold interpretation of the Aquanaut Travel Time released in 2016. It features the Aquanaut’s characteristic porthole case and bezel that makes it the slightly sportier cousin to the Nautilus. The Travel Time complication is Patek’s version of a dual time zone function and it operates by having two hour hands on the main hour scale. With a brown dial and matching brown strap, it’s richly coloured and gorgeous.
It’s joined in prestige by many of the other watches in the auction. There’s also the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time Ref. 7900V/110A-B334, Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 3970EP, Rolex Daytona Stainless Steel White Dial Panda Ref. 116500LN and Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Ref. 311.32.40.30.01.001.
In terms of more modern watches in the eBay Lost Time auction, there’s the IWC Big Pilot’s Perpetual Calendar “Toto Wolff” Ref. IW503607 from 2021. A 46mm watch with a Ceratanium construction combining the scratch resistance of ceramic with the lightweight and high strength ratio of titanium. It was produced as a limited edition of 100 watches making its appearance at auction pretty rare.
Another Watch that’s hard to get hold of is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Celebration 124300 from this year. The bubble dial makes it instantly recognisable with it multi-coloured array of circles set against a Tiffany blue style background. It was one of the most talked about watch launches from Watches & Wonders this year and has been essentially unobtainable since. The eBay Lost Time auction gives you the chance to skip the hefty Rolex waiting list.
Rounding out the auction are the exciting though not particularly rare Omega Seamaster 007 ‘No Time to Die’ Edition Ref. 210.92.42.20.01.001, Rolex Pearlmaster White Gold Mother of Pearl Dial Ref. 81319, Cartier Santos Carrée Burgundy Dial Ref. 2961, Cartier Pasha Yellow Gold and Cartier Tank Must Ref. WSTA0055. It’s exciting to see eBay engage in high profile watch auctions following their increasing involvement in the watch industry with their authentication program.
